Why is it that society nowadays is so focused on failure? Everything seems backwards, with more focus on people’s flaws than their beauties and a negative bias under which we’re told that if we’re not the best we will not succeed.

For some unknown reason the world’s eyes have developed a tunnel vision that is gradually becoming narrower and narrower, casting aside those who dare to be different and individual. Now there is only room for those with perfect grades, perfect looks and perfect ideals. But what does perfect even mean? Who has the nerve to think they can categorise individuals based on a never-ending series of tests? No one ever considers the creative ones or the ones who maybe don’t perform so well under pressure.

I hate that it all comes down to an hour or so and your whole future can depend on how you act in that moment. What about life? Does anyone ever consider how we all act outside the exam hall or the test centre? Maybe if there were more emphasis on how to be a functional human being and not an educational robot our society wouldn’t be so messed up.

M O V I E N I G H T

After a long day of attempting to switch your brain on in school or parading the streets in the hope of finding something interesting and inspiring, sometimes a girl (or a boy - boys are just as sensitive) just needs to curl up with a cup of milk and lose herself in the televised life of someone else. At least I know I do. A movie or a TV show can be just as educational as a history lesson and quite frankly, far more exciting. Being a teenager is hard, especially when you're expected to behave like an adult but dress like a 12 year old. So let's forget about the real world and remind ourselves that sometimes all you need is Bradley Cooper in a bin bag to make you feel happy.

The To Do List is one of the most hilarious and controversial films I've ever seen. I love that the main character, Brandy, is this stubborn, hormonal feminist who exposes the sensitivity in men and goes around her business not giving a damn about what anyone thinks about her or her new found hunger for new sexual experience. This movie taught me more about sex than even my mother. Sex, as a 17 year-old girl doesn't have to be full of emotional crap and feelings. Sex can just be sex. Feelings are for your 30's.

Silver Linings Playbook. Isn't Bradley Cooper just dreamy? Even wearing a bin bag he still manages to rip my open my heart and jump inside. And then there's Jennifer Lawrence. God I love this girl. Her character is so unpredictable and amazingly crazy with a strange way of showing her love for people. Casting these two incredible actors was the best idea anyone has ever had in the entire universe. American Hustle, bring it on.

You Instead was one of those amazing accidents that makes purpose seem pointless. Filmed at the Scottish music festival T in the Park, this movie has the perfect combination of fun, music and handcuffs which drew me in from the word go. I love a quirky, light-hearted film that's easy to watch and this movie gives exactly that. Plus the heart-throb that is Luke Treadaway as an American Indie-Rockstar. Who in there right mind could say no to that?
